offers Ph.D. Programmes in Law.
A.
ELIGIBILITY
The candidate having Master’s Degree in Law in second class
with at least 50% mark from any statutory University in India
or abroad will be mainly considered eligible for admission to
the Ph.D. programme in Law.
B.
PH.D. PROGRAMME COMMITTEE
There shall be Ph.D. programmme Committee for each subject or
a group of subjects consisting of the following members:
1. Vice Chancellor
2. Pro Vice Chancellor
3. Dean of the concerned faculty
4. Expert in the Subject nominated by Vice Chancellor
5. Registrar (Ex-Officio Member Secretary)
Function
and Powers of Ph.D. Programme Committee
1. To scrutinize the applications for the admission to Ph.D. programme
and take decision with regard to admissions.
2. To examine the academic viability of Ph.D. topic of the candidate
for approval or otherwise.
3. To appoint an expert for evaluation of pre-registration essays
of the candidate wishing to register for Ph.D.
4. To scrutinize application forms of teachers for approval as
research guides and recommend the names of eligible applicants
to the Academic Council.
C.
ADMISSION
1. Registration for Ph.D. Course can be done in the month of June
of the Academic year. Application for Registration will have to
be made in the prescribed form, which is appended.
2. The University has a panel of recognized guides. The information
of recognised guides will be made available to the student on
receipt of his Admission Form.
3. The Candidate will have to submit 5 copies of the comprehensive
synopsis of his proposed research work including a representative
bibliography related to the theme along with his registration
form.
4. The student, if he so desires, can choose any person as his
guide from outside the University. But such a person will have
to seek University’s recognition as a guide before the student
registers under him.
5. The University may ask a student to work under the guidance
of more than one guide if it is thought academically necessary
and desirable. If the topics of research of a student is of interdisciplinary
nature he will be allowed to do his research under the guidance
of two or more guides of the related disciplines.
6. Every admission to Ph.D. programme will be initially provisional.
It will be confirmed if and when the following criteria are met:
i) the student submits all the necessary documents in support
of eligibility.
ii) the student is found eligible by the Ph.D. Programme Committee.
iii) his topic is approved by Ph.D. Programme Committee of his
subject, and
iv) the first presentation given by him is approved by the competent
authority.
7. The Ph.D. Programme Committee may if it considers necessary,
ask the candidate to change or modify his topic of research and
its decision in this regard will be final.
8. An Outstation eligible candidate can be given admission provided
he gets an affiliation of a research centre approved by the University.
9. The Candidate will have to pay the laboratory, fieldwork and
other expenses, if any, in addition to the tuition and other fees.
10. the Candidate will not be allowed to change the topic of his
research and /or guide unless it is approved/permitted by the
Ph.D. Programme Committee.
D. ENCLOSURES TO THE APPLICATION
i) Master’s Degree Certicitate.
ii) Marksheet (if it is in grade equivalent to percentage)
iii) Five copies of the synopsis.
Note : The synopsis, should be approved and signed by
the guides.It should contain the following.
(i) Theme
(ii) Methodology
(iii) Bibliography Preferences.
iv) Consent or NOC from the present employer, if employed.
v) Consent of the Guide/his signature on the Application form.
vi) Registration fees.
