Bharati
Vidyapeeth University has established the school of Distance Education
with the approval of Distance Education Council of India, to provide
academic programs in various discipline to the students desirous
of taking higher education.
The School is an independent unit headed by a senior academician
who works as the director of the school. There is an adequate
administrative back up provided to the school to facilitate its
work. The school takes help of a large number of experts in various
fields to run its programs. The office of the school is located
in Pune.
Philosophy
of Distance Education
Bharati
Vidyapeeth University is an academic institution with social commitment.
Through its constituent units, it has made high quality education
available to a large no of students. However, the University is
aware of the fact that almost 90% of students, belonging to college
going age - group i.e. 17-21 yrs, do not get opportunies to go
for higher education because of various diffculties. Some of them
are living in rural and tribal areas, some are too poor to afford
the cost of higher education, others are employed or compelled
to do the house hold work, etc.
The University considers it as its responsibility to provide educational
opportunies to all the deprived students whether from rural or
tribal areas, reach or poor, men or women. Therefore, a separate
school of distance education has been created by the Bharati Vidyapeeth
University with the motto of "Reaching to the unreached".
With the following specific objectives:
a)
To
promote self Learning, continuing a life long learning culture
in the society.
b) To accelerate individual development and personal productivity
through facilitating required skills.
c) To release students from constraints of time and places of
learning.
The Bharati Vidyapeeth University has established 9 study centres
which are located in Pune, Navi Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolhapur, Sholapur,
Karad and Sangli, these centres function as an interface between
the University and the Students and works as a collaborator in
effective program delivery.
The programs are conducted in collaboration with the faculties
of Bharati Vidyapeeth University institutions where these study
centres are located. They have excellent buildings and infrastructure
facilities including state of the art learning resources.
